★ Mary’s Song!

When we encounter GOD’s blessings in our lives, our response is something to consider. We have all received gifts from GOD. The most significant gift ever given was JESUS.  Mary was a very humble and thankful person, who realized that her participation in CHRIST’s life on earth was a gift from GOD, as she valued them greatly (Luke 2:51).

But more than just valuing the experience, Mary responded to GOD’s blessings and gifts by worshipping. One example of this was when her relative, Elizabeth, was speaking blessings and honor to Mary about Mary’s blessings from GOD. Rather than saying “no, no, it’s not me”, or running into some other form of false humility. Mary realized that there was only one way to give the honor where it was due. She immediately began speaking the wonderful passage we now refer to as “Mary’s Song”. It follows:

And Mary said:

My soul glorifies The LORD and my spirit rejoices in GOD my Savior, for HE has been mindful of the humble state of HIS servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed, for The MIGHTY ONE has done great things for me – HOLY is HIS NAME.

HIS mercy extends to those who fear HIM, from generation to generation.

HE has performed mighty deeds with HIS Arm; HE has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

HE has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

HE has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away, empty.

HE has helped HIS servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and HIS descendants forever, even as HE said to our fathers. – Luke 1: 46 – 55

May we all respond to GOD”S blessings in our lives by doing what Mary did – directing all the honor back to GOD, through worship!
