★ ACCEPT THE ONE AND ONLY TRUTH THAT CAN SAVE YOU!

All the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or hear some new thing. -Acts 17:21

Some years ago a book entitled "A Manual of Useless Knowledge" was published. Here are a few samples: "A scorpion can survive upto three weeks frozen in a block of ice. "  -  "In the Middle Ages rhubarb was one of China's most expensive exports to the west. "  -  "The shortest Burmese surname is H."

Many other remarkable things are listed. Apparently there are enough people who fill their heads with such unimportant facts, just as there were in Athens in Paul's time. What useless ballast and what a waste of time this all is, for both our capacity to grasp things and the extent of our life are limited.

For most Athenians Paul, GOD's messenger, was a welcome change;  what he preached was at any rate an interesting item of news. Whoever entertains this ancient and yet so tropical concept of life can, like the Athenians, hardly be shaken up by anything.

However, the eternally valid message that Paul brought with him IS NOT DEBATABLE. It states, "IN THE PAST GOD OVERLOOKED SUCH IGNORANCE, BUT NOW HE COMMANDS ALL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE TO REPENT. ALL MUST TURN TO GOD, FOR GOD WILL JUDGE THE WORLD BY THE MAN WHO HE APPOINTED FOR THE PURPOSE, THE SON OF GOD, JESUS CHRIST. HE HAS GIVEN US PROOF OF THE FACT BY RAISING HIM FROM THE DEAD" - Acts 17: 30, 31. Perhaps some will now say: "This is rubbish", But let us not shrug the matter off too quickly!  That Man is JESUS CHRIST, The SON of GOD, and HIS resurrection has been credibly testified. Allow me to repeat it once again for clarity,  "This matter HAS BEEN CREDIBLY TESTIFIED".

Some of the apostle's hearers actually became thoughtful and believed. In our day, too, there are some people who are prepared to consider the matter.

Taken from the daily devotionals, The Good Seed.

To the rest I plead, please do not take this matter lightly. Ponder the truth about JESUS CHRIST, that GOD has mercifully given you a chance to hear and hold on to it with all you have.

Inspired by The HOLY SPIRIT.
