♥ The Name On The Gravestone!

PREPARE TO MEET YOUR GOD. - Amos 4 : 12

Our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST ... has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. - 2 Timothy 1:10

A Swiss industrialist named Charles Mez, who lived in Bale, was crossing a cemetery one winter's day. Snow covered most of the gravestones, making it impossible to read the inscriptions. Suddenly he stopped. On one gravestone sheltered by a pine tree a name could be read. It had his own name: Charles Mez.

He did not know who that namesake of his might be, whose body rested there, but the fact that the only legible name in the whole cemetery was his own, made a profound impression on him. "Where would I be now?" he wondered, "if my body, separated from my soul, lay under that stone? "

Standing alone in the middle of that icy landscape, a scene of death illustrating the state of his soul, he acknowledged his sins, his indifference, his scorn for GOD's love. The Gospel, heard on other occasions without his paying attention to it, suddenly impressed itself upon him as something living and personal. He turned to JESUS, prayed and obtained the peace of heart and forgiveness of his sins that faith in The SON of GOD gives. From that day the life of Charles Mez showed that he belonged to JESUS CHRIST. His joy was to serve HIM.

GOD can bring about similar coincidences to awaken our attention. He stops us in our tracks, speaking in various ways. Do we hear HIS voice in such situations? Let us take time to pause and ask ourselves:"Is JESUS CHRIST my SAVIOR? Could my name be inscribed on a tombstone sooner than I expect?  Where would my soul be then? "
