♥ Don't Go By Appearance!

The LORD said to Samuel, Do not look at the outward appearance nor at his physical stature...For The LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but The LORD looks at the heart. - 1 Samuel 16 : 7

A Jewish legend tells of a man who one day knocked at the door of a rich man's house. Wearing tattered clothes, he asked for hospitality. The wealthy man send him off with scornful remarks and insults. A few days later he returned clothed in a magnificent coat. The rich man failed to recognize the beggar. He did him the great honor of inviting him in and made him sit at his table. There he offered him a glass of his best wine. The visitor took the glass and, pretending to be clumsy, poured it over his clothing. The glass was filled a second and a third time, and each time it was emptied over his fine garments. The guest then made this remark to the dismayed wealthy host: "Recently I came in rags and you repulsed me. Today I have come well-dressed, and you welcomed me. To be honest, you haven't received me but only my clothes. So it is appropriate that they should have the wine that you offered me." And with that the mysterious visitor took his leave.

What lesson can we draw from this short tale? Love does not look at the outside appearance. It shows us how the LORD JESUS CHRIST used to act, so much so that even HIS enemies were obliged to admit: "Teacher, we know that YOU are true, and teach the way of GOD in truth;  nor do YOU care about anyone, for YOU do not regard the person of men" - Matthew 22:16.
