♥ The Unread Letter!

Not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living...But when he came to himself, he said, How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. - Luke 15:13, 17, 18.

A young Dutchman from a decent family led his life like the prodigal son of whom Luke 15 reports. He, too, was going downhill; he finally joined a regiment that was posted to Indonesia From there he wrote to his father, requesting money urgently. After some months the awaited letter arrived. But it contained neither cash nor cheque; so he threw it into his suitcase unread.

Three months later he fell seriously ill. Then he suddenly remembered the letter that he had never read. A male nurse fetched it from his suitcase and read it to him. It was a letter from his father which read, "I have instructed Captain P., should you wish to be released from the army, to bring you home on his ship. Here I shall see you well provided for. So write to the captain before the 1st of May. Sweat broke out on the invalid's forehead: it was now the end of June - it was too late!

How many people ignore the message of love that GOD sends them, even failing to take the trouble to read HIS  Book, The BIBLE.

Here is a sample: "GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS one and only begotten SON, that whoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life" - John 3:16.

"We implore you on CHRIST'S behalf, BE RECONCILED TO GOD...Now is the day of Salvation! " - (2 Corinthians 5:20; 6:2)
